Beanstack Tandems with OKCPS

We learned this spring that Oklahoma City Public Schools signed up as an institutional client with Beanstack, the company we use for our reading programs. This means all OKCPS students automatically have Beanstack accounts. We met with OKCPS and representatives from Beanstack to discuss ways to link our accounts in a feature that Beanstack calls Tandems. OKCPS signed the Tandems agreement this past week, so we can officially move forward with linking our OKCPS and Metro Beanstack accounts through Tandems! 

Here is what you need to know: 

• OKCPS and Metro Beanstack accounts must be manually linked by customers or library staff assisting customers. 
• The next time Beanstack student/parent users login to their account, they will have the option to opt in to linking their library & OKCPS school accounts. 
  • Logged reading will then count for both programs. 
    • So when OKCPS students are logging reading for school this summer, they will have the option of logging for our Summer Reading program as well. 
• Beanstack has provided an overview of the steps involved here and has provided some staff resources and customer-facing handouts for those who have questions. This information can be found on the Summer Reading Intranet pages under Downloads and on the Beanstack App page. 
• OKCPS staff will also be sharing this information with their students and assisting with the linkage of accounts.
