Summer Reading Goals for ITR Committee

Goal 1: Summer Reading community grows smarter during the summer months, one person at time

Strategic Objective:  Grow our Summer Reading community by increased participation rate in the Summer Reading program

Rationale:  An increase in summer reading participation rate will show a growing community of readers and that our summer reading community values the library as a hub for their reading enjoyment.

Key Measures

  • Sign up in the summer reading members will increase from 23,335 to 25,669 (10%)
    • Attractive new software product for member’s use
    • Stickers to Mid-Del Schools to go on final report card saying, “Vacation reading equals better grades. Take your child to the public library for summer reading.”
    • Further encourage volunteers and staff to enter tracking info for members
    • Improved selection of giveaway books
  • Members who read 600 minutes during the program will increase from 8,926 to 9,819 (10%)
    • Opportunity for all ages to select a child’s book to give to a child they know or donate to Read it Forward at Goal 1
    • Beanstack product offers badges and games to support continued reading
    • Opportunity for all ages to select a child’s book to give to a child they know or donate to Read it Forward at Goal 2
  • Members who read 1200 minutes during the program will increase from 5,706 to 6,277 (10%)
    • Beanstack product offers badges and games to support continued reading
    • Increase 2nd goal incentive from one book to two books for children and teens
    • For 2nd goal incentive to be more desirable product than 1st goal for adults
  • Completion of a third goal option, Read it Forward  increases from 2,097 members to 2,307 (10%)
    • Opportunity for all ages to select the giveaway book for RIF
    • A visual display of Read it Forward giveaway books will provide a visual cue and additional photo opportunities to be used for marketing
