2020 Summer Reading Training Announcement

After a slight delay due to our system-wide closure, Summer Reading training is almost here! This year's training will be 100% digital in format and will be launched on Wednesday, May 6 for all staff. Training will need to be completed by end of day, Wednesday, June 10.  

Staff are encouraged to complete their training as soon as possible to be prepared for SR pre-registration which will launch on May 15 and for the official start of SR which will begin on June 1.  

Below are all of the additional details you need to know about this year’s training components: Online Training (required) & EPS Summer Reading Office Hours (optional).  

Online Training 

Required for All Staff 

Who & What

Online Summer Reading training is required for all staff and is self-guided.  

To complete online Summer Reading training, Public Services staff will:  

  • Watch the 2020 Summer Reading training video in EduBrite.  
  • Complete tasks in Beanstack (general and administrative scenarios) to learn and/or review how to sign up, track reading/activities, claim prizes, and more.  
  • Complete the Summer Reading 2020 acknowledgement in EduBrite.  

To complete online Summer Reading training, Department staff will: 

  • Watch the 2020 Summer Reading training video in EduBrite.  
  • Complete tasks in Beanstack (general scenarios only) to learn and/or review how to sign up, track reading/activities, claim prizes, and more.  
  • Complete the Summer Reading 2020 acknowledgement in EduBrite.  

Why  

The purpose of online Summer Reading training is to provide the necessary tools and information to staff to help customers, and ultimately, reach our Summer Reading goals.  
In order to receive state funding (under Title 405. Oklahoma Department of Libraries, Chapter 25. State Aid Grants to Public Libraries), all staff must complete one continuing education credit a year that is not safety training. Metro uses Summer Reading training to fulfill that requirement.  

When & Where

On May 6, 2020 all staff will receive notice from EduBrite that they can begin their online Summer Reading training.  
Online training for all staff must be completed by June 10, 2020.  

EPS SR Office Hours via Zoom 

Optional for All Staff 

Who & What

EPS will host office hours via Zoom in May and June to help answer any questions regarding Summer Reading that staff might have post-training.  

Any staff member is welcome to attend an EPS Office Hour's session once they have completed their online SR training and have received approval from their supervisor.  

Zoom links for each session are provided below and can also be found on the SR Intranet Page, which will launch on May 6.  

Why

Not everyone learns best digitally, so EPS would like to offer staff the opportunity to ask their questions “in-person” via Zoom.
