Subcommittee Updates

Community & School Engagement – This group met in January and is focusing on toolkit updates. They are also working on ways to get SR information to Mid-Del Schools and EPIC Charter Schools. The School Library Media Specialist breakfast is being planned for May 1. This team proposed a school training video to the Staff & Volunteer Engagement subcommittee. They are waiting on information about potential updates to Read it Forward.

In-Library Engagement – This team met in late January and are working on revising their toolkit as well. They have created a pre-order list for library displays and decorations that will be sent out next week. They are waiting on information about prize levels and potential updates to Read it Forward.

Logistics – This group met in December to brainstorm solutions to a potential Read it Forward cap. They have suggested using tickets/ballot boxes when customers in libraries read books forward instead of collecting the actual titles. Read it Forward books will instead all be pulled from the end supply of SR prize books instead of throughout the summer.

Library supply orders for SR will be done on demand instead of once per week.

SR prize books will arrive in March and need to be inventoried, reboxed, and sorted.

Staff & Volunteer Engagement – There are three main components to SR training this year: staff training (online training required for all staff, in-person training required for AM/EM/LMs and new staff, staff meeting Q&As), volunteer training, and internal communications. The volunteer recognition party was approved as an after-hours event on July 31 at the Downtown Library. This team is finalizing the internal communications plan, which will include a week-by-week breakdown of posts and messaging. They are working on training content now and are starting to update the intranet pages about SR with fresh content and language.

Summer Reading Engagement (Programs and Software) – Program requests are being finalized, the book order is placed, and the MAC request with quantities for SR items has been turned in. The group is working on a request for additional funding, a Beanstack pre-SR survey, and the language for the fine waivers.
