TLC Upgrade

On Tuesday, April 13 after close of business, TLC will be performing an upgrade to CARL.X, CARL.Connect, and CARL.Discovery.

Here are the main highlights of what you will notice:

  • A new “damaged items” feature in CARL.X Return and CARL.Connect Check In to allow the ability to check an item in as damaged, and any hold on the item will move the customer to first in queue on that record.
  • Upgrades coming to the CARL.Connect Fill List:
    • Ability to change your action menu (Found, Not Found) from singly-selecting items to multi-selecting
    • Location and Media Codes will only display codes for items in the fill list
    • “Not Found” is being labeled to “Wander List”, which now has more functionality
  • CARL.Connect now has check in sounds to alert staff to lightbox during Check In
  • The Catalog has a lot of mobile updates to include title details, viewing loan history, placing issue level holds, as well as the ability to add/view their lists and see their saved searches
  • When customers update their email address in the Catalog, and opt in to email notifications, it will change the flag in CARL.X to “yes-do send email” (feature addition requested by MLS!)

The catalog will not be upgraded to the FRBR catalog with this update.

As a reminder, please always contact the IT Helpdesk when you are experiencing problems with CARL.X or CARL.Connect. We want all the problems sent to the same location so that it’s easier to identify widespread problems. IT can and does put in tickets with TLC when there are problems with these systems.
