Pests in the Library: Charge/Discharge Notes

With the updated Pests in the Library documents we went live with on July 1, 2020, one of the additions was to test the use of using the Charge/Discharge note in CARL.X for potentially pest damaged materials. Based on feedback from the Pests in the Library Workgroup and Access Managers, on Monday, February 1, 2021 we will go live with this feature. Permissions to add and remove these notes have been enabled for Library Managers, Access Managers, Engagement Managers, Access Specialists, and Library Aides.
In addition to this change, we will discontinue the use of the @xxPest cards. Access Managers will have until 6pm Sunday, February 14 to clear their local @xxPest cards. The following day, I will go in and delete these cards from the system.
The Pests in the Library documents are being updated with this information. Information on how to add and remove Charge/Discharge notes are in Access Manual #2. We are only using Charge/Discharge notes for items with potential pest issues. Please do not use Charge/Discharge notes for other reasons. Local management teams will need to determine the local process for adding and removing these notes, as well as when/how items are inspected.
If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to Tricia Andrews.
