NYTimes.com Remote Access

Customers now have remote access to NYTimes.com. While offsite, customers can click the New York Times link on the Download and Stream page of our website to redeem a 24-hour pass to NYTimes.com. The customer will need to register for a free NYTimes account or login to an existing one using their email address. Access can be renewed after the 24-hour period by navigating to the link on our website and redeeming another pass. The pass gives them access to nytimes.com and the NYTimes app but not access to NYT Cooking or NYT Crosswords.

Nothing has changed about access to NYTimes.com when you or a customer is using a library computer or logged into our library wi-fi. You don't need to click the link on our website to redeem a pass unless you intend to access New York Times remotely. While you're at the library on our network, simply navigate to nytimes.com and login to your account.

NYTimes.com provides access to articles from 1851-1922 and 1981-present, but it's designed more for everyday use catching up on recent events. For research purposes, ProQuest's Historical Newspapers database provides full coverage of the Times from 1851-2012 and ProQuest's U.S. Major Dailies database provides coverage from 1980-now.

Here is a quick video of the sign-in process using an existing account. Customers are asked their interests, if they want to sign up for newsletters, and if they’d like a link to the NYT’s app. All three can be skipped.
