We have begun the process of the Compensation and Classification Study.  We have had the first round of informational meetings and are now in the survey step of the process, the position description questionnaires.  The purpose of this survey is to gather information about your job so that the Singer Group can ensure that all of our positions are classified correctly.

The position description questionnaire (pdq) form should be filled out and returned to your supervisor by January 5th. It should be filled out on the clock so please make schedule arrangements with your supervisor to fill out your form.  (Copy of the pdq is attached)

You can also find the link to the pdq on the Intranet slider bar titled "Compensation and Classification Study". There is also a lot of helpful information on the site regarding this project.

The pdq is a Word document form file so that you can save your work and complete the survey a little at a time. This survey can be a bit overwhelming so I would encourage you to break it down into manageable pieces.   You may also want to allow time to complete the survey and then go back to review it a few days later to be sure that you are satisfied that it includes all of the responsibilities of your position.

Please try your best to give accurate, thoughtful, and complete answers to all of the questions. It’s also important to remember that we are talking about the responsibilities of the position, not how you do your job. A good way to think about it is how you would explain your duties and responsibilities to a new employee. 

The deadline for you to complete this survey and turn it into your supervisor is January 5th, 2011.  Your supervisor will review the information and make any necessary comments before forwarding it on. They cannot make changes to your remarks, only comments. 

If you have questions or comments about your pdq or the class and comp study there are several options for you to choose:

  • You can email or speak with your Project Review Committee.  The list of committee members are on the Intranet
  • You can speak with your supervisor
  • You can always contact me at 606-3746

For questions about the pdq, or to provide any other kind of confidential input, you can send an email using the “Employee Hotline Email" to [email protected]  The email link is on the Intranet and goes directly to the Singer Group to ensure confidentiality.


We want to remind employees that a confidential e-mail hotline is available to you to send questions, comments or concerns about the compensation and classification directly to The Singer Group. Laura Francisco of The Singer Group has let me know that employees are free to send anonymous e-mails to the hotline; however, if you wish to receive a response, the accounts you use cannot be a “no-reply” type of account.

There are two options when sending emails the the hotline:

  1. Anonymous comment - you will not receive a reply for this email.
  2. Send an email to the Singer group and receive a follow up - you may want to use your personal email address for the follow up response.

Please remember that these e-mails are kept confidential – The Singer Group does not report to me or other MLS staff which staff send e-mails or the content of these e-mails.
