2022 Holiday Calendar and Juneteenth

I wanted to share with you our thoughts on why the holiday schedule was not amended to include a Juneteenth day off for staff. We will be celebrating Juneteenth as a system event to share the understanding of what the holiday represents with our customers. Please watch the video for more details:

Emilio Estevez reads A Homeless Christmas Story

Many of you know we subscribe to Ryan Dowd's "Librarian's Guide to Homelessness" via EduBrite. Ryan has written a new book "A Homeless Christmas story in which homeless advocate Emlio Estevez is reading the book. Many of you may have seen the movie "The Public" set in a library.

Ancestry.com - End of Remote Access

Hello Metro,

Begining on December 31st, 2021, Ancestry.com will be canceling its remote access availability. However, customers will still be able to acccess Ancestry.com while visiting the Library. Since some of our customers may have come to enjoy or rely on their remote access to Ancestry.com, we can let them know that we have another genealogy resource specifically for customers to access at home, MyHeritage.

Ralph Ellison Centennial Apparel - opportunity for you!

As we commemorate the centennial of Ralph Ellision library, we invite all staff who are interested to purchase special, commemorative apparel through Bonfire. We have used the Bonfire link because it requires few staff resources and because it also gives us the opportunity to raise funds. When you purchase a shirt through our Bonfire link, a poriton of the proceeds will support the Ralph Ellison Library through the Library Endowment Trust. Thank you!
