Access Training Documents Now Available

The new Access Training is finally upon us! While we wish we could train everyone interested in the first round of training this Spring, we realized that we have limited resources – both in training laptops and in how many people can be out of a library at a time.

Knowing that many people are interested in the training, we have posted all the training manuals, which includes the following documents.

• Access Manual Part 1 - Software Basics and Library Accounts

• Access Manual Part 2 - Circulation Basics and Item Maintenance

• Access Manual Part 3 - Routine Tasks and POS

• Account Formatting Best Practices

• POS Practice

Since the training has many scenario-based sections, the manuals do not cover every possibility that you will encounter. Instead, these situations will be covered during the discussion portions of the trainings.

I anticipate the manuals being updated throughout the year as new features on CARL.Connect become available and as procedures and processes are updated. While my original intention was to have a single document for everyone to reference, the length of the document in Word became unwieldy, so I split it into the three training sections. Each document is still fully searchable, has a table of contents, and links both within and external to the documents.
