2018 ODL Reference Survey Results

Print

A few weeks ago, we conducted the ODL Reference Survey. The survey ran from September 5th through September 11th. Library staff kept track of the times they helped customers with their questions and noted whether they were answering Reference or Non-Reference questions.

Thanks for all of your help in taking the time to participate in the survey!

Now that the survey is complete, we'd like to share some of the results.

The first dashboard contains information for the 2018 Reference Survey only and the second dashboard compares 2018 data to 2016 data. You may notice that the numbers for 2018 are lower than those for 2016. But based on feedback from select libraries, we think this is the result of interactions missed when filling out the surveys more so than a drop in customer questions. We have some ideas for how we can improve the structure of the survey for next year and also welcome your suggestions.

Thanks again for all of your help! If you have any additional questions on the data, please reach out to [email protected] or via extension 3821.

(A few tips for viewing the dashboards: If you want to enlarge the dashboard, you can select the arrows in the bottom right of the dashboard. If you want to enlarge a particular chart, hover your mouse over the chart and then select the icon that appears at the top right of the chart.)

Wrong Data

I think the graph is pulling in the wrong numbers for 2018. The chart shows that we had a total of 13418 interactions this year, but the graph only show 2100?

Hi Daniel,

Hi Daniel,

Thanks for the comment! Yes, you're right. It looks like it was pulling from the wrong field. I've fixed it now and it should update here soon!

Jennifer
