Introduction

Please find a short video introduction of myself with some comments related to where I see the library moving in the future. I will be posting short videos like this occasionally to the intranet so that anyone can view them. Please let me know if I can be of assistance or there is a topic that is of interest to you.

Larry, if you are ever wanting to get to know the weird quirks of Carl-X then MC is here!
Larry,
Thank you for creating this video. I am very happy to hear that there may be a focus on looking outwards into our communities soon. Would you be willing to speak to how you see engaging with community organizations will work, especially from different staff levels (i.e. front-line staff, management, admin)?
Yes, as we work forward on this, I will be speaking with many people to learn how to best organize our effort in engaging the community. As we learn what steps we should be taking, we will be communicating this to staff and other stakeholders.
Hope this helps,
Larry
I appreciate the offer and will take you up on it.
Larry
This was great to see! Thanks so much for doing this Larry.
Remember the time a few of us came in to open boxes in Receiving near the start of the shutdown? That was pretty fun, huh?? I was so scared to leave the house, but it felt good to do something useful. I enjoyed our conversation about baking.
I don't have a question. Just came here to brag. Have a great day!
Yes, I do remember this and thanks for coming out to help. How is your bread making coming along?
It was fun and I learned a lot. But I got bored with it after a while and now I'm obsessed with cheese.
Picked up a nice slab of halloumi yesterday, in fact! It's from Cyprus, made with goat/sheep/cow milk. I haven't tried it yet, and, frankly, I'm a little intimidated. It's meant to be grilled, fried, or even roasted alongside tomatoes and peppers and whatnot.
.....and now I will get back to work! :D
I'm usually the first to arrive in our office every morning bubbly and ready to welcome everyone as they arrive in but I must say, it's been really nice of a change to see another bright smile here to welcome, greet and speak with me as I walk into the horseshoe area.
Thank you so much Larry!
Thank you for the kind words. I am an early to work person (usually get here about 7:15 am) and I look forward to working with you as well.
Good luck in your cheese adventures! Hope it turns out well for you.
Thank you for taking time to share and share in this manner. In the past, videos of this nature have been very much appreciated by staff. We are here to support you and our mission.
Thank you!
Thank you for your introduction! I believe this will go a long ways in building trust and keeping us transparent!
Thank you and I will continue to do my best to share communication with staff.
I never thought when I first started my library experience sitting in that classroom with you at UB and listening to you about the 9 functions of a library that I would eventually see you as my interim executive director all the way in OK! I am so glad you did. I am Looking forward to working with you and hearing more of your great stories. By the way listening to this took me back to hearing your lectures.
Thank you for the kind words George. I am excited about being here and the opportunity to serve here at MLS. I am happy to share more stories any time. Just let me know when you need some boredom:-)
