Excitement is BUILDING for our 2019 Staff Development Day!

Staff Development Day will be here before we know it! What are you most looking forward to? We have more details about this exciting day coming your way. Don’t forget, registration opens September 3 and concludes September 12.
Four More Things to Know Today About this Year’s Staff Development Day
1. Carpoolers will be entered into a drawing!
To encourage carpooling, Staff Development Day carpoolers will be entered to win a special prize.
2. We are re-evaluating the structure of our annual value awards.
Our previous value award winners have been incredible, but it’s not an easy decision! We want to help provide the selection team with criteria that will make it easier to make their recommendation. The value awards are temporarily suspended until they have been re-evaluated.
3. Dress for success, er, casual success!
Dress for Friday casual success – no suit and tie necessary. Please remember to bring your name tag as it is required and some temperature appropriate clothing. It gets very chilly in the sessions so bring a sweater.
4. You’re going to have a BLAST building your expertise at these breakouts! Here’s just a sampling.
a. The Six Thinking Hats: An Innovative Strategy for Structured Brainstorming and Creative Problem Solving in Today’s Workplace
One of last year’s popular speakers, Donna Rynda, will be joining us again for a breakout on the fun and creative concept of “The Six Thinking Hats”, created by author Edward de Bono. The idea promotes innovative ideas, committed teamwork and embracing different styles of thinking.
b. Reducing Stress & Finding Contentment with Everyday Mindfulness
Stress is unavoidable, but how we respond to it makes a significant difference in the quality of our work performance, our creativity, our relationships, and how we feel both physically and mentally. This session includes a brief overview of the physiology of stress, with clear steps that help to identify how stressful events are internalized. Learn simple mindfulness practices that can be integrated into your daily routine.

will there be a message board set up for carpooling?
Briann,
I will see about doing that. That's a great idea!

Briann,
When you register to attend staff day it asks if you plan to carpool and where you would like to meet. We are using this to schedule carpooling. It will be coordinated by our carpool subcommittee. Let me know if you have questions.

So I love the idea of getting people together to carpool, however I know that there are some people that going to a location to carpool would be out of the way. When I signed up for staff day I was hoping there would be a MLS location to meet up.
Sarah,
Yes, when you register it asks for an MLS location you would like to meet at. So, if you live close to work then meeting at your library may be a good option for you and if you live closer to another library you can select that library instead. Is this what you were asking? Thank you!

Not exactly, so for people who live in Norman for example it might be easier to meet somewhere down there instead of going up to SO or their home branch.
^ this!
I might as well drive from Norman because it will take twice as long to get to SO and leave again from there.
Some of the established carpooling/bus locations in Norman are the Homeland off Robinson, the north side of Sooner Mall, Lloyd Noble, and the parking lot near Panera. I'm sure there are some on the East side as well.
Why not a drawing for bus pooling?
