Alignment Project Planning Team Minutes - February 23, 2017

- Job Descriptions
The Committeen reviewed the draft job descriptions and made changes. While the Committee agreed that they would like to open all workgroups up for nomination (and self-nomination), the Job Description workgroup has too tight a time frame to do so. Instead, the Committee identified a small workgroup that will be asked to review all of the job descriptions and provide input within the next week. Michele will contact the individuals directly. The Committee will review the recommendations of the workgroup at its next meeting.
- Work Groups
Michele presented the proposed charges for each of the Work Groups. They included:- Beyond the Walls Workgroup;
- Downtown Library Workgroup;
- Call Center/Virtual Library Workgroup;
- Community Libraries Workgroup;
- Access and Engagement Implementation Workgroup.
The Committee will post a form on the intranet asking for volunteers for each workgroup. Each person can apply for only one workgroup.
- Questions
The Committee will review questions received each week and will take turns answer them.
- Schedule
The project schedule was updated. The Committee agreed that when a printable version was available it will be posted to the Alignment page.
- Supervisor v. Manager
After some discussion, the Committee agreed to use the term "Supervior" in the classifications of positions, but use the term "Manager" as part of the job title. This will likely eliminate the use of the term "Supervisor" in the title of positions requiring an MLIS as previously proposed. Instead, it is likely that most positions that supervise other positions will be called "Managers."
The Committee will meet again on Thursday, March 2nd.
