Libby Updates

Libby recently updated with search enhancements, a refined navigation bar, a new settings menu, and timeline improvements. Please take a minute to watch this 5-minute video that goes over these changes.

These updates and improvements are part of OverDrive's goal to make Libby the primary app for accessing our digital collection. Nothing is changing right now, but they are working to phase out the OverDrive app by the end of 2022. With that in mind, please continue to recommend Libby to new users whenever you can. The more we can start acclimating our customers to Libby now, the easier the transition will be when the OverDrive app is no longer available. More updates to Libby are expected including accessibility improvements, a way to recommend titles to us to purchase, easier-to-find "lucky day" or "skip the line" collections, and a solution for Kindle Fire users.

Libby has many great selling point already though:

  • Simple on-boarding the first time you open the app
  • Easily manage multiple cards and accounts from different libraries (helpful for parents managing family accounts or for those of us with Pioneer and Metro library cards)
  • If you’re already using Libby on one device, you can use a setup code to easily copy your library accounts, loans, and holds in Libby to another device, and Libby will sync across devices.
  • Use the article view to zoom into individual articles in magazines for easier reading.
  • Set your preferred reading format when browsing and only see titles in that format (i.e. Kindle)
  • Multiple options for tagging books helps you organize your TBR
