SH 670.1 Driver Safety Procedures

Procedures

1. Pre-hire

All applicants required to drive a Metropolitan Library System (“Library”) owned vehicle as a condition of employment (“applicants”), will be required to complete a skills assessment and/or road test with a Library representative or a Library designated thirdparty, and following a conditional offer of employment, to pass a pre-hire drug test. Anything less than a clean report is not acceptable by the Library.

Human Resources Policy Updates-May 2019

On May 16, 2019, the Metropolitan Library Commission approved the following updates to the Library's Stewardship of Human Resources policies:

SH 221 Family and Medical Leave incorporates updated regulatory language and provides a clearer overview of employee’s rights and responsibilities under the FMLA.

SH 671 Driver Safety-Drug and Alcohol Testing

Purpose

The Metropolitan Library System (“Library System”) is committed to providing a safe working environment that protects our employees and the citizens of the communities we serve. The purpose of the Driver Safety–Drug and Alcohol Testing policy is to promote a heightened level of safety awareness and responsible driving behavior entrusted to those operating Library System owned vehicles.

SH 670 Driver Safety

Purpose

The Metropolitan Library System (“Library”) is committed to providing favorable working conditions for its employees.  The purpose of the Driver Safety policy is to ensure the safety of the public at large and those individuals who drive vehicles owned by the Library  as well as those individual who drive personal vehicles while on Library time.
