Discussion:

At the last meeting, Denise reported on a Worker’s Comp claim from Choctaw involving a strong chemical odor coming from the janitor closet.  Since that meeting, Todd Podzemny and Curtiss Ray have inspected the area and found the source of the odor was a mop saturated with Pine Sol had been left in the closet.  The odor was circulated through the ventilation system.  Todd has spoken with the janitor about the problem and asked that they ensure mops and other equipment are properly cleaned/rinsed and stored.  There have been no further problems reported.

We still have an open committee position in need of a representative from a library.  The goal is to have that position filled before the next scheduled committee meeting in May.

The Safety Manual updates are complete and available on MyMetrolibrary.  The electronic SDS management system will be fully operational within 30 days.  Training for all staff will occur during 3rd quarter.

There was no new information to report for Worker’s Comp or Safety Training.

Around the Table:

Chris reported that sidewalk repairs are being done at Midwest City to replace a concrete ramp.

A tour of the Choctaw facility followed discussions.  The committee suggested the addition of evacuation route signs at the back of the room near the children’s area.  The bookshelves make it hard to see the exit route at the front door.  Todd and Curtiss will follow up.

Overall, the facility was found to be clean and well organized.  No other issues were found.

Meeting adjourned:  11:00 AM
