Discussion:
Curtiss reported that he has met with the Fire Marshal at all library locations. Northwest will add another emergency exit through the employee area. Plan drawings for evacuation routes have been sent to Construction Management.
Southern Oaks has added another safety chain to make the loading dock area more secure.
Jana Hausburg has resigned from the Safety Committee so we have an open position and need representation from another library.
Denise reported a Worker’s Comp claim has been filed due to a chemical odor at the Choctaw library. Upon inspection, a mop saturated with Pine Sol was found in the janitor closet. The odor was being circulated into the library through the ventilation system. Curtiss will look into installing a solid ceiling in that area with a vent outside.
At year end, the library had five reportable Worker’s Comp injuries.
Safety Training Update
Globally Harmonized System (GHS) training due by December 1, 2013 was not 100% complete.
HUM is counting training complete by year end as compliance. The new GHS training has been added to the new hire training at GOAL.
The committee discussed the proposal to move the mandatory HazCom training to the 3rd quarter to allow time for the electronic SDS library to be up and running. It was decided to move Bloodborne Pathogens training to 1st quarter, Tornado Safety will remain in 2nd quarter and HazCom will move to 3rd quarter.
The committee reviewed the Safety Manual for needed updates. The updated manual will be added to the intranet in the coming weeks.
