Recent and coming updates from OverDrive

On Friday, October 30, OverDrive installed security upgrades that will affect mobile devices with an operating system older than Android 5 or iOS 5 (current Android version: 11; current iOS version: 14). Customers can still use their older device if they either update their device's operating system or use Adobe Digital Editions to transfer a title from a laptop or desktop. This upgrade is most likely to impact those who use the OverDrive app on a NOOK Color or on an old Kindle Fire that cannot be updated. Read more about this upgrade on this page.

OverDrive is discontinuing the Libby app for Windows to focus their development efforts on Android and iOS. Windows users will still be able to use Libby on their device in-browser at libbyapp.com and OverDrive will provide messaging in the Libby app for Windows leading up to this change. OverDrive will remove the Libby app from the Windows App Store the week of December 7th, 2020 to prevent users from installing the app. Libbyapp.com offers the same features as the Libby app except the ability to download titles for offline use. To use this feature, customers can use the Libby app on Android or iOS.
