Let the Games Begin: Summer Reading Staff Challenge Launches Monday, July 17th!

Location:

On Monday, we will launch a little friendly competition to measure the largest jump in minutes from July 17th to July 31st at each library location. The good thing about these games is that the odds are in everyone’s favor! Your challenge over the next two weeks is to increase the average number of minutes read per person for your location. So, it does not matter if you are a large library or a small library. It does not matter if your circulation numbers are the highest or the lowest. It does not even matter where your numbers are up to this point in the summer reading program. The library with the largest overall change in average number of minutes read per person during the last two weeks of the program will be crowned the winner!

So, what’s in it for you? Increasing the total number of minutes read as a system benefits everyone because it brings us closer to meeting our goal. For your location, the Metro Administrative team members have agreed to take over all member services at the 1st place library, while the winning library’s team members are treated to a pizza party sometime in last August/early September. Additionally, all staff members at the libraries who come in 1st place, 2nd place and 3rd place will receive limited-edition t-shirts…not to mention, bragging rights for the year!

If you have suggestions for encouraging members to log their minutes, please feel free to post them below or in one of Kay’s forums. Also, please do not hesitate to contact me with questions.

Happy summer reading!
