Favorite Author Reserves

Print
Type of Pilot Project:
Public Service
Describe Project and Impact:
Library members can be automatically placed on the holds list for any authors they designate as "favorites".
Project Description and Expected Outcomes:
Library members could log into their account on the online catalog and choose their favorite authors from a list of popular authors. Then, anytime the library received new books from those authors the library member would be automatically placed in the holds queue for them.
Why should we select this project?:
This would be a great service for avid readers to basically anticipate what they'll want and would probably result in increased retention and circulation for that segment of library users.
Constraints, Limitations, or Dependencies:
Limited to the capabilities of TLC/Carl-X
Source of Inspiration:

My sister lives in Yukon. They have this service there and she loves it. Information on page 3 of this PDF: https://fry.biblionix.com/catalog/help/accounts/

Great Idea!
I know that we have quite a few members at MC that carry lists of author's titles to read. I also have had a member comment on how the current catalog makes it harder for them to figure out what format the book is in. So if they can sign up and then say they would rather have the Playaway or Large Print version instead of the normal book that would be great too.
