We want to hear your IDEAS for new projects

The library has allocated a portion of the budget to fund new and innovative products, services, and experiences. The Leadership Team is looking for pilot project ideas that would help advance our strategic goals (Library Unbound and SOaP). The pilot projects will likely be implemented in one, two, or three libraries (but not system-wide, unless it is a departmental project). The projects will be implemented as either a public service project (projects that are for our customers) or a library/department support project (projects that help staff do their jobs).

We would love to hear your ideas for new projects! Anyone can submit as many ideas as he or she would like (no matter how big or small). Don’t be afraid to submit your project idea because you fear that others might not like it or think it’s not feasible. If you believe in it, we want to hear it! The pilot projects will be fresh and innovative, and most likely risky. They will help us better fulfill our mission, and potentially serve as models for later expansion.

Our Leadership Team will review the submissions and identify a select few for implementation that best support our goals. Please note, that by submitting an idea you are not required to carry it out if we choose to implement it. Leadership will select the project owner and team members. You are encouraged to give constructive feedback on other submissions. We want everyone to be comfortable putting themselves out there to voice their ideas, so please be respectful and don’t tell anyone that they have a bad idea or that it just won’t work. Instead, express how their project could be improved upon. You can go back and edit your submission before the deadline if you receive feedback that you think would improve your pilot project.

You can submit Pilot Project ideas here. The deadline to submit your ideas is Tuesday, July 19, at 9:00pm.

Rolling Pilots -- for those busy with SRP

I received a note from Robin Miller at the Edmond Library over the weekend asking if there would be an opportunity for folks to submit pilots after the July 19th deadline, since so many folks are tied up in Summer Reading Program. I think this is a great idea ... While we will move forward with some projects in August/September as part of the final budget approval, we will also plan to implement a second round of pilots before the first of the year. I can't say how many will be in the second round or how much funding we'll reserve for them, but we want to give folks an opportunity to put their best ideas forth, and if adding a second round after SRP helps, then we can do that.More details later ... And thanks, Robin!
