It is challenging to help parents and caregivers of young children navigate through the world of digital media use. There are many negative messages about children and digital media use. Professional standards appear to provide "one size fits all" guidance and library staff often feel unprepared to serve in the role of digital advocate.

Also, learn how to interact with parents in digital media advisory interviews. Engage with your colleagues and share ideas in this interactive session with Dr. June Abbas, School of Library and Information Studies at the University of Oklahoma, as she shares findings from an IMLS sponsored research project, and guides discussion on this important issue library staff encounter every day.

Training is presented by Dr. June Abbas, School of Library and Information Studies at the University of Oklahoma. Join us to learn strategies for flipping the negative narratives to positive messages you can use with parents.

Sponsored by the Institution for Museum and Library Services, the School of Library and Information Studies, the University of Oklahoma, in partnership with Oklahoma Department of Libraries.
