Why People Give

This week, the Literary Voices committee of the Library Endowment Trust hosted their annual fundraising dinner. Soon, we’ll share our final fundraising results and I want to thank all the staff throughout the system for the marketing support, technology support, coordination of titles and events and the manpower that went into what made it such a success.

At the event, I kept hearing over and over how great out libraries are and how wonderful YOU all are. We were also surprised this week with a generous gift to the trust from a man who was passing through OKC and spent time at the Northwest Library. In his letter he shares that in his time at the library he could see how vital our services are to our communities – and what a good job we do in providing them. Finally, we also received a gift this week because a staff member went the extra mile for a library member who was doing some personal research at our Downtown location.

People give because of YOU. Because you provide and support the great service that enriches their days. When they give, it inspires others and allows us to do even bigger and better things.
