Media Advisory: Native American Heritage Month at Metro Library

November is Native American Heritage month and the Metropolitan Library System has many online exciting programs that will thrill all ages.
“MLS has so much going on this month that there is something for everyone,” Emily Williams, Teen Engagement Manager said. “From early childhood take home kits on how to make Sun Catchers to Woven Basket take home kits for teens to Zoom/Facebook discussions about Native Americans in the Media, MLS has it all this month.”
Tomorrow, Nov. 10 at 2:00 p.m., join Bird Runningwater, the Director of Indigenous Programming at the Sundance [Film] Institute, as he discusses Native Americans in film, tv and media today on Facebook Live. On Thursday, Nov. 12, join the “Reclaiming Native Truth” discussion as presenters talk about Indigenous mascots, education and representation. In the middle of the month, many libraries will be offering Introduction to Basket Weaving take home kits. Also visit www.metrolibrary.org all month to view Metro Library's Native American online art collection featuring art from the Kiowa 6.
