Libby for Amazon Fire Tablets

  • Libby is now availble to download from the Amazone Appstore. Users with Amazone Fire tablets should download Libby directly from the Amazon Appstore rather than manually sideloading the app.
  • The Overdrive app will be removed from the Amazon Appstore on June 7, 2023. Fire tablet users who already have the Overdrive app installed can continue to use it for now, but it is no longer in active development. The Overdrive app will continue to display messaging encouraging those with compatible devices to upgrade to Libby.
  • The web page that hosted Overdrive's APK instructions will redirect users to the Amazon Appstore to download Libby. Users with Overdrive's Libby APK on their Fire tablet can continue to use that version. If a user would like to switch to the Amazon Appsotre version of the app, they can follow these instruction. Users who do switch to the Amazon Appstore version may lose their Libby timeline activity, search history, and app custimizations. They will NOT lose their loans, holds or tags.
  • The Kindle Book format remains availble to users in the U.S. only.

Overdrive app reading history in Libby

Overdrive will soon make user's borrowing history from the Overdrive app and their library's Overdrive webite available on their Timeline in Libby. This update will take place over the next several dys and will allow users to keep track of all titles they previoulsy borrowed from Metro's digital collection.

Support for additional Languages

Libby now supports the additional languages: Korean, Malay, Tamil, Danish, Icelandic, and British English. Review this list on Libby Help for the full list of supported languages and the required steps to change the default language in the app. 

This update does NOT affect the languages of the content in Metro's digital collection.
