Kanopy - Play Credit Changes

On November 1, 2023 the Kanopy play credit system will be replaced by a new ticket system. Guests currently have 8 play credits per month to access content on Kanopy. Right now, both the Kanopy Kids content and The Great Courses content are accessible without having to use any play credits. Kanopy Kids will not be included in the new ticket system and guests may continue to access all Kanopy Kids content without expending a ticket. The Great Coures will be inclued in the new ticket system.
- Instead of using play credits, users will have a monthly ticket allotment. Metro's allotment is 24 tickets per month per user.
- Every title is labeled with a ticket value and viewing window.
- The Great Coureses ARE included in the ticket sytem.
- Kanopy Kids is NOT included in the ticket system.
- Users will see a pop-up on Metro's Kanopy website and in the app that explains the new system.
- Users will see how many tickets a title will use and how long they will have to watch it before pressing play.
- A two page informaton flyer is attached that can be placed on information tables, announcement boards, or help desks for guests or staff use.
- The flyer provides detailed information on ticket pricing.
WHY?
- Easier for users to know how many tickets they have.
- Clearer information on viewing periods for users.
Guests or Staff can find answers to many of their questions on this page.
Any staff that may need a refresher on Kanopy can find that on this page.

if I start a movie on Kanopy and don't care to finish it, I still have to use a credit or ticket.
I think a more honest system is to give the viewer a length of time (to be determined but longer than a trailer) to sample the movie to see if the movie is worth the viewing time BEFORE the viewer's ticket is "punched".
One generally gets what one pays for.
