FOLIO Scholarship Available!

FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY SCHOLARSHIP AVAILABLE: Deadline Dec. 30.  

At the 2024 Annual Oklahoma Library Assocation (OLA) Conference, the Friends of the Library in Oklahoma (FOLIO) will be awarding scholarships to staff. We encourage our Metro Library staff to apply.  

Application Deadline: December 30, 2023. Selection will be made by a committee comprised of FOLIO Board Members. Scholarship amount will be a minimum of $1000 for up to three recipients, depending on committee selections. 

The Lillian Born Norberg and Mary Lou Atkinson Staff Support Scholarships are offered to full or part-time employees of a public, academic, or special library in Oklahoma in the process of furthering their education. FOLIO has awarded these scholarships since 1997.

Eligibility and Requirements  

• Applicants must be currently employed at a public, academic, or special library in the state of Oklahoma.  

• Full or part-time employees are eligible for consideration.  

• Applicants must enroll in credit coursework, seminars, or workshops that accomplish educational goals at an educational institution: a community college, a four-year college or university, technical school or graduate school.  

• Include proof of enrollment and completion of coursework (unofficial transcript).  

• Priority is given to education for a master's degree. Applicants should strive to complete credit hours in the humanities, computer science, library and information science and/or instructional media at any level.
