Belle Isle Grand Opening

I first would like to say thank you to everyone who has come together and contributed to making this library a reality. So many things have gone wrong, and delays were at every turn. But with a little bit of Metro Magic and a team dedicated to making this happen. We came out from the other side a stronger and happier community. The pictures attached are from the day of the grand opening before we opened it to the public. As you can see the architect wanted to keep some of the old charm connected to the building. With the exposed flagstone walls, keeping the general shape, and making sure to pick furniture that says the 1960s.

With our addition, thanks to the generosity of the Taylor Family we were able to expand what was previously capable with just the city's budget. We went up to five study rooms, one huge and beautiful meeting space. The installation of an adult changing room and a dedicated programming room. The Belle Isle library was given a chance to serve our community further than before. I invite all of Metro staff to see our new space and walk around to see what we are doing with the space now.
