Preview the redesigned OverDrive site!

Visit this site for a preview of the redesigned OverDrive site. While you won't be able to check out materials from this site, having the chance to explore it should give you a better footing before it rolls out for us. When you first visit this page, a Learn more and share feedback here link at the top of the page will take you to this OverDrive Help page which explains the changes.

If you'd like a rundown of the site's new features as described in a recent OverDrive blog post:

  • Speed – The new OverDrive is redesigned from the ground-up to give the best and fastest experience discovering and reading content.
  • Ease of use; clear layout – The new OverDrive has been reimagined with a clean user interface which makes it easy for new and returning users to quickly browse and navigate.
  • Responsive design – The new OverDrive features an improved responsive design optimized for mobile users that looks and works great on any screen or device.
  • Accessibility features – The new OverDrive site is our most accessible product yet. It is designed to work well for users with screen readers and those using our high-contrast and dyslexic font options.
  • Smarter URL Structure – The new OverDrive uses shorter and more intuitive URLs which are easier to share, bookmark, and reuse for both titles and searches. Featured collections have URLs which can be shared as well, even for lists not published to the main site.
  • Search – The new OverDrive’s search has been enhanced, giving better speed and new options, such as filtering by multiple subjects at once. Additional search enhancements (such as sorting by date added or popularity) are coming soon.
  • Multiple Sign-In Options – The new OverDrive allows users to login in multiple ways: using their library card, their email address, or Facebook. Of course, a library card is required to borrow and read content, and can be linked to your email or Facebook account through a one-time process.
  • Enhanced Security – The new OverDrive site is designed to run completely using HTTPS. We value library users’ security and privacy, and this helps ensure a secure browsing experience.

We're scheduled to receive this updated site in the first quarter of 2016 and we will have at least 4 weeks' notice before it goes live. In the meanwhile, familiarize yourself with this new site and share your questions and comments with all of us in the Comments section.

Thanks for the link Tim! I

Thanks for the link Tim! I really like the new site so far. You can really tell the difference in the loading time, and it's much more clear on showing if books are available or checked out.

re:
The current site, especially in the app, is sooo slow so any redesign of the site is a welcome one.

Thank you for the preview!

So great to see what's coming and be able to play with it before it's here. I really like clean design and the ability to browse seems easier. Also the accessibility features are great!

No Advanced Search

Assuming it's not going to appear in a final version of this site's redesign, I noticed that the Advanced Search link is no longer available so finding an equivalent work around might be a question we hear from customers.

Work Around Using Search Filters

From the info on the link below, it looks like we are meant to use the search filters in place of advanced search. It said "Advanced Search is not currently available for new OverDrive websites. Instead, try using search filters to find exactly what you're looking for."

re: Work Around

Great find! I've recently received a number of emails from customers who use the Advanced Search feature (and I'm already anticipating their emails once the new site rolls out) so it's gotten me to thinking about the equivalent for the new site.
