Welcome

Buddy Johnson welcomed the attendees and introduced the Connect planning committee. He reminded everyone about the mission and goals of the Connect Forum.

Virtual Reality Game

Jennifer Jones facilitated a game. Attendees divided into groups of four or more and created a name for their team. Jennifer read imaginary “online posts” from authors or characters and the group had to guess who posted based on the clues. The second part of the game posed a quiz of online user names, both real and imaginary. The group again had to guess the author or character. The team with the most correct responses won. Team AT3 (Delvecki, Spindle, Stone, Thompson) beat the Fantastic Forum, the Ref Riders and the Always Searching Never Lost teams.

I Saw It Online

Clyde Herrod hosted a “game show” in which the crowd gave a thumbs up for great ideas they had seen online.  Clyde started the ball rolling with interesting photos posted by Johnson County Library in Kansas.  Their delivery trucks feature famous works of literature paired with imaginary businesses such as Captain Ahab’s Fine Seafood, Dr. Jekyll’s Pharmacy, and Kafka’s Pest Control.  Other great online sources mentioned included Blind Date with a Book, Ben and Jerry’s library-themed ice cream, and MLS Facebook and Twitter posts.

What’s up on the Web

Buddy Johnson facilitated a panel questions & answer session featuring Kellie Delaney, MLS Manager of Web Development and Support, and Tim Spindle, MLS Virtual Librarian.

Buddy thanked the panel members and attendees for coming. He thanked MC staff for hosting the event. Jennifer handed out a list of library blogs.

Meeting adjurned at 4:00 pm.
