I didn't notice anything about discrimination/harassment based on sexual orientation. Did I just miss that part?
Nope, you didn't miss anything ... We are not proposing any changes to the policies at this time. That said, we will continue to pursue all unlawful harassment and discrimination to the fullest extent of the law.
The only thing we're scheduled to discuss tomorrow will be a change is to correct a mistake that occurred back in 2007 -- Back then, we mistakenly asked the A&P Committee to recommend the approval of the procedures along with policy; in other words, SH 510.1, SH 511.1, SH 520.1, and SH 530.1 (along with policies SH 510, SH 511, SH 520, and SH 530) were all adopted as part of policy instead of remaining as a staff defined procedures. If approved by the Committee tomorrow and the Commission on 5/21, these procedures will be reclassified as procedures and won't require further action from the Commission to update. Hope that helps clarify, and please feel free to let me know (here or elsewhere) if you have any other questions. Thanks, Margo!
That makes sense. I think the whole harassment/discrimination thing could be condensed down to "Just be decent human beings" anyway.
Thanks for the clarification! :)
