Program Information

Dates:  

• Marketing Materials Routed to Libraries: Early December 2024
• Program Dates: January 1 - February 28, 2025
• Last Day to Log and Submit Bingo Cards: Wednesday, March 5, 2025
• Last Day to Pick Up Goal Prize: Wednesday, March 12, 2025 at 9pm 
• Drawing Prizes Drawn and Winners Notified: Week of March 17, 2025

Guests belong to a community of readers and library users.

Goals:

• Capitalize on January’s higher circulation statistics​ of  eMedia such as Libby 
• Promote a culture of reading in Oklahoma County​
• Focus on adults and nurture their love of reading 
• Highlight reading/lifelong learning as a healthy habit to encourage in the new year
• Compete in Beanstack’s Annual Reading Challenge
• Test and pilot changes prior to Summer Reading​ 2025
• Leverage existing Beanstack subscription​
• Address guest needs & demands

How can you support this year's Winter Reading Challenge? 

Library Staff

• Promote the program within your library​

• Promote the program within our community through outreach​

• Help guests log their books online to their Beanstack account​

• Award goal prizes to adults and mark their prize as awarded in Beanstack

Department Staff

• Promote the program to family, friends, city officials, and vendors​

Supervisors ​

• Make sure staff are trained in Beanstack and are entering completed cards into Beanstack as they are received. Staff should know where completed cards are being stored until the end of the program. Once the program has ended, Bingo Cards can be shredded and recycled. You do not need to send them to OES!

How do guests participate?

Keep track of the books you read in January and February by writing the title in the matching square. Book titles may be used only once per card, and only one entry per person may be turned in.

Log the books you read in January and February through our online software, Beanstack. Visit metrolibrary.org/bookbingo to log and learn more. 

How do guests win?

There are two ways to qualify for a goal prize and be entered into a drawing for a prize pack:

1. Get a bingo! Guests can complete a horizontal, vertical or diagonal line (5 books read in total) and turn in their completed bingo card will earn a mug as a goal prize AND be entered in a drawing* for a prize pack that includes Apple AirPods, cozy library-branded items, and a YMCA pass. 
2. Log 5 Books on Beanstack! Guests can register for Winter Reading Challenge 2025 on Beanstack. Log 5 books on Beanstack to get a bingo and earn a mug as a goal prize AND be entered in a drawing* for a prize pack that includes Apple AirPods, cozy library-branded items, and a YMCA pass.

Additionally, guests who read 25 books between January 1 and February 28, 2025 will be entered into a grand prize drawing that includes an iPad, 2 VIP tickets to Literary Voices, and a YMCA membership.*

How do guests submit their bingo card? 

Submit your completed card with a bingo in one of the following ways:

1. DROP OFF your bingo card (or a copy) at any of the 19 Metropolitan Library System Locations or at your Metropolitan Library Onsite Library
2. MAIL your card (or a copy) to Metropolitan Library System c/o Book Bingo, 300 Park Avenue, Oklahoma City, OK 73102
3. EMAIL a picture of the front and back of your bingo card to bookbingo@ metrolibrary.org

ENTRIES MUST BE RECEIVED BY 9PM ON WEDNESDAY, MARCH 5, 2025

The fine print: Only one entry per person. Drawing prize winners must have a valid adult Metropolitan Library Card. Metropolitan Library System staff, commissioners and their households are ineligible to win drawing prizes. Bingo prizes available while supplies last. Book titles may be used only once per card, and only one entry per person may be turned in. All ages can participate, but only adults (ages 17+) are eligible for prizes.
