In order to monitor the results of the equal employment opportunity provisions, the Metropolitan Library System has the following procedures:
- Identify position vacancies to be filled by:

- Minimum and desirable qualifications
- Establish job description
- Establish education/experience/other requirements and preferences
- Establish equivalent qualifications
- Establish salary range
- Define conditions of employment
- Identify appropriate search procedures

- Placement services of colleges, universities and graduate library schools
- Library clearinghouse for professional applicants

- Establish a pool of qualified applicants without regard to race, color, religion, gender, age, national origin, veteran status, or physical or mental disability.
- Announcements
- Screening of Applications
- Compare minimum and preferred qualifications to applicant's qualification
- Identify applicants for interview
- Interview selected applicants
- Select best qualified applicant
- Reasons for Selections and Rejections
- Identify and record reasons for selecting the successful applicant
- Identify and record reasons for the rejection of all applicants not selected
- Review and Notification
- Review selection procedure to ascertain compliance prior to actual appointment of applicant
- Notify all applicants not selected that position has been filled
- Uniformed Services (Veterans) Employment and Reemployment
The provisions of the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act of 1994 (USERRA), as may be amended from time to time, shall over-ride other provisions of this policy and procedure when a conflict should exist.
