AS 511 Non-Library Use of Audio-Visual Equipment

Upon compliance with the procedures stated below, individuals, recognized groups, organizations and institutions may be permitted to use library-owned audiovisual (A-V) equipment (e.g., film projectors, tape or disk playback units, etc.) in agencies of the Metropolitan Library System.
Procedures
- Requests to use the A-V equipment must be made in advance with the library agency involved to determine if the equipment is available for non-library use and if viewing or listening space is available.
- Each library agency receiving a request will determine of library staff will be required to operate the audiovisual equipment and if staff is available if required.
- Persons requesting use of the equipment must describe the nature or content of the program materials to be played or shown.
- Persons requesting use of the audiovisual equipment must sign a "release of liability" statement or form releasing the library from all liability for damages or loss to the program materials (e.g., films, recordings, filmstrips, etc.) involved. (See form on following page.)
- Library reproduction equipment (e.g., tape recorders) will not be used to transcribe any copyrighted material without written permission from the producer of the material or written proof that the material is no longer available on the market.
- Each library agency handling these requests shall retain, in its files, copies of the completed "release of liability" forms and statements of permission to reproduce copyrighted material and statements of proof of unavailability of material.

Some of the language here is...antiquated. Perhaps simply leave off the examples of A/V?
