As part of their program of service, many libraries provide meeting rooms and exhibit spaces for individuals and groups. Article VI of the Library Bill of Rights states that such facilities should be made available to the public served by the given library "on an equitable basis, regardless of the beliefs or affiliations of individuals or groups requesting their use."
The following guidelines are to be used along with the library’s current Staff Use of Library Property and Services Policy (SH 620). These guidelines apply to all library materials including, but not limited to, books, video and audio recordings, electronic media, magazines, newspapers as well as any equipment provided for the use of such materials.
In an effort to promote a broader understanding of the Library’s collections and resources, designated Library employees may engage, while at work, in public Internet communication. The following guidelines govern all public Internet communication (work-related or personal).
The following guidelines apply to all email communications (work-related or personal) which are accessed on or from library premises, accessed using library computer equipment, or via library-paid access methods, and/or used in a manner which identifies the individual with the library.
The Staff Use of Library Property and Services Policy ensures that Metropolitan Library System employees make appropriate use of library owned property and services for the benefit of the library’s customers.
