Describe Project and Impact:
Make translation of public materials in-house for consistency and faster turn-around.
Project Description and Expected Outcomes:
Bring on a trained translator to translate new public-bound materials and maintain translations so that they stay fully equivalent to their English counterparts. This will result in more consistency in the final project, easier feedback during the translation process and goodwill from one of the fastest-growing demographics in our service area.
How will this project improve workplace efficiency and effectiveness?:
Our Spanish-speaking population will have a more consistent experience across the system. Staff who currently do on the spot translation and translation editing will be able to better focus on their assigned duties.
Why should we select this project?:
Imagine how much inefficiency would be introduced if as a system we did graphic design work on an ad-hoc or contractor basis. Having a dedicated translator would assure quality and consistency in the material we release in Spanish and be one more way to show our commitment to our community, regardless of their first language.
Constraints, Limitations, or Dependencies:
The translator would require a dedicated workspace and access to relevant tools.
