CONNECT Planning Committee Minutes for January 2011

In attendance: Angela Thornton, Barbara Beasley, Barbara Johnson, Kim Edwards, Susan Hutchins, Clyde Herrod, Daniel Fields

The group looked over the survey results compilation and discussed the responses given. Consideration was given to what matters we could address through this forum and what was not in our realm of responsibility (i.e. facilitating sharing resources and best practices is in our scope but adjusting the frequency of programmers meetings is not). Barbara Beasley suggested that the items we could feasibly address fall into three main categories:

1. Better knowledge of resources available to MLS librarians (in system and through sharing with colleagues)
2. Upcoming trends and changes (in the MLS system and librarianship in general)
3. Technology (learning and keeping up with rapidly changing tools)

For the first CONNECT forum on March 22nd, we have decided to have a speaker discuss current and future trends in public libraries. The event will be held at Midwest City from 2pm-4pm.

The next planning committee meeting is February 8th at 2pm at Belle Isle.
