CALENDAR REVIEWS

  • Finance Meeting – Tuesday, June 4th
  • A&P Meeting – Friday, May 10th
  • Managers will meet Thursday, May 23rd at the Warr Acres Library for Emotional Intelligence Training.

REPORTS

Library Operations (Headquarters) – Candace announced the Maps 3 – Street Car proposal meetings will take place May 9th and June 13th on the fourth floor at the Downtown Library for those who are interested in attending.

Candace was excited to announce two Devon Energy groups have chosen the Downtown Library to have their meetings on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Staff Recognition will be Saturday, October 26th.

Administration / Commission – Library Retirement Pension Board meeting is today at the Downtown Library.

Donna reported the trip to Denver, Colorado and Los Angeles, California was very productive, interesting, and she learned alot from the trip. She stated that they have great information that will help with writing the R.F.P.

The Director’s office will begin working on the budget and Commission reappointments that are coming up.

Finance & Support – No new reports.

Information Technology – No new reports.

Development – Diane stated the landscaping at the Downtown Library is taking place at this time.

Human Resources – Lori reported the safety training emails will go out today.

The Human Resources Department is also preparing for the A&P meeting schedule for Friday, May 10th.

MAC – Kim stated the Department of Education and the Governor of Oklahoma are unveiling their new Summer Reading Program for children grade levels 1st through 6th. They will hold a press conference at 10:00 am Friday, May 3rd, at the Northwest Library. They are beginning the Summer Reading Program to encourage children to read 5 books over the summer. They also encourage young children to visit their nearest public library to check out books on their reading level. Kim will attend the event and invited the Ad Team to attend.

The Marketing Department is currently producing a commercial for the Summer Reading Program. Marketing has also been in contact with local TV and radio stations to receive good air time for advertising.

Kim has been planning themes and other ideas with Priscilla Doss, Manager of the Belle Isle, for Belle Isle Library’s 50th Anniversary coming up September 30, 2013.

Materials & Outreach – Karen is working on the ILS vendor evaluations.

Outreach – Out of the Office

Library Operations & Planning – Kay announced that she will not be in the office next week.

Choctaw Library will be closing May 13th through May 19th for carpet installation.

Library Operations – Denyvetta discussed how well the Computer Specialist Forum is going. The first forum was on April 23rd, the next one is in October.

Denyvetta also read kudos; one from a customer in reference to how great of an employee Associate Librarian - Jennifer Jones at the Capitol Hill Library. The other kudos goes to Michael Owens for his assistance with the Arts Council.
