CONNECT Planning Committee Minutes for February 2011

In attendance: Angela Thornton, Barbara Johnson, Kim Edwards, Susan Hutchins, Clyde Herrod, Daniel Fields

Details for the first CONNECT meeting are coming together. Dr. Cecelia Brown from the OU School of Library and Information Science has agreed to speak at the March 22nd meeting. Dr. Brown mentioned several topics of interest regarding future library trends and will be attending a conference before the March 22nd date, so she will share any highlights from that as well. Kim Terry with MAC will also be on the agenda to discuss the promotion program in place for the databases and will discuss at each CONNECT meeting the upcoming databases for the next three months; i.e. for the March meeting, she will discuss the April, May, and June selections.

We will also approach Todd Olberding and Donna Morris for a powerpoint presentation (or other visuals) and Q&A on the Northwest Library, especially in regards to changes, updates, or additions that are not the current norm at MLS libraries.

This agenda, if confirmed, will give us one main speaker, a short break, and two small topics afterwards. Short and simple, but hopefully informative for our librarians. Future topics are being considered and we hope to confirm those at our next planning committee meeting.

Angela will provide a flyer to managers at the next MLO meeting regarding the March 22nd date so decisions can be made about what librarians can go and schedules can be arranged.

The next planning committee meeting to finalize details is March 8th at 2pm at Belle Isle.
