Training Update

  • Safety training is mandatory each quarter. Since the new LMS (EduBrite) was launched in October, Discrimination, and Harassment, and Slips, Trips, and Falls quarterly safety training have been conducted through EduBrite.
  • Currently, over half of the staff have completed the 4th quarter Slips, Trips, and Falls safety training. Dec. 31st is the deadline for completion. A reminder was sent out Mon. Dec. 4th.
  • New Employee Orientation (NEO) includes time for new staff to complete required safety training. If there is not enough time to complete it, the staff member’s supervisor is notified, so they may complete it at their location before starting work.
  • An active shooter training is now available in EduBrite. A communication was sent out Thurs. Dec. 7th to notify staff of its availability.
  • A defensive driving training will be offered for those who are authorized to drive library vehicles.

Workers Compensation Update

  • A checklist and packet of documents that must be completed on each workers compensation case is available on the worker's compensation page on the intranet under HUM.
  • During the 2017 calendar year there were 8 workers compensation claims, and of those claims, no pattern stands out as needing to be addressed.

Member Safety

  • The committee discussed the potential for member safety complaints to affect staff safety as well and whether member safety complaints should be addressed by the Safety Committee is being evaluated.

Safety Manual Review

  • Each safety committee member will review the safety manual and suggest any revisions at the next safety committee meeting.

Facility Checks

  • It was agreed that each meeting would take place at a different physical location to conduct facility checks.

Fire Drills and Evacuation Plans

  • The process for reporting fire drills and communicating evacuation plans will be evaluated by the safety committee.

Glad & Curious

I'm glad to have a job description now, but I am curious about it. Why does my job's description have a note at the end stating that the job's description can be changed, and a signature? The signature is for me to acknowledge this, how my job's description is not all inclusive, and that it accurately describes my job. Other jobs' descriptions don't have one or both of these in the engagement group. I assume that the one with the note twice was an error; are all missing it errors?

Signature is Being Added

Human Resources is in the process of updating all job descriptions to include the signature page. Once that has been completed, HUM will send staff their job descriptions for a signature and date. This will be kept in their personnel file.
