Call to Order and Welcome
The first joint meeting of the PLS Teen Staff Group and MLS YA programmers was called to order at 1:30 p.m. by Lee Hall.
Presentation – Kiona Wooten Millirons, Artist
- Hands on 3-D collage project that will be presented during summer reading; Heidi can pay for this program and supplies.

Update – Scott Carter, MLS Marketing & Communications
- YA Summer Reading Program will not be promoted over radio for 2004. Not cost-effective or productive.
- Cable TV Advertising will be utilized, as well as ads in smaller news publications. (Not Daily O.)
- Grubbe Advertising Agency has earmarked 6 movies during the summer and will provide 300 tickets per showing.
- Prizes: good sign up prize, steering away from food coupons but working with various corporations for on-sight food donations; bikes will be donated as prizes; Scott is checking into other sponcors for teen programming
- Future possibility of using Eskimo Joe’s as sponsor was discussed.
Presentation – Shannon Calderon, Dance Artist
- Offers dance programs featuring salsa, hip hop, etc. Can do any kind of dance.
- Programs from 1 hour to 1 ½ hours.
- Summer program will be most likely be provided courtesy of grant from Arts Council (similar to this year)

Presentation – Cynthia Wolf, Artist
- Photographic art workshops using polaroid image and emulsion transfers.
- Cynthia did photographic workshops during teen read week and received very good evaluations

- Urban Legends – Theme for MLS 2004, PLS will confer and decide between that and Extreme
- Possible Programs:
- Steve McNutt, Skateboarding Legend Did a 2 hr. presentation for $75 and gave a video or CD to each participant.
- BMX bike presentation, possibly by Jeff Hester
- Speaker about Urban Legends
- Rock Wall – Portable, Lee is working with 2 companies from Tulsa to identify possibilities. One she has contacted can have 60 participants in 2 hours.
- Sonic Junior Balloonist Program will be counted as a YA program for MLS this year pending Dana’s approval.
- Beth Maye, Poet Very successful at PLS. See handout for further contact info.
- Games – Shop in Moore – The Realm of Hobbies and Games (see handout). Heidi D-M also brought Urban Myths board game as an idea.
- Yu-gi-oh - Possibly provide tournament rules for adults?
- Martial Arts?
- Also free program kits will be available from Heidi such as Truth or Myth? Game, Movies, and more

Young Adult Programmer's meeting will be 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 7th, Library to be determined. There will be 2 special guest speakers about Youth Advisory Boards as well as finalization of all summer programs, including final program schedule.
