Increase community awareness of programs and services offered at the new Northwest Library through community outreach, posters and other signage, one-on-one customer interactions and information provided during tours.

The Bethany Library met and exceeded this goal by hosting 26 programs, including musical performances and a variety of learning experiences.

Downtown Library and the Service Center had visitors from the 2012 Matrix Camp. Matrix Camp is a week-long event that provides middle school-aged Oklahomans the opportunity to learn more about libraries and librarians sponsored by the Oklahoma Library Association.

The Development Office facilitated the process of selecting an artist to create works of public art for the Southern Oaks Library. After an extensive selection process during which the public art committee evaluated 42 proposals from artists from around the country, the committee selected Oklahoma City artist Joe Slack to create sculptures for the library. In September 2012 the statues were installed and the Development Office assisted with promotional materials in conjunction with the grand re-opening of the renovated library and the introduction of the statues.

The Development Office assisted in planning the April 10, 2012, Literary Voices author dinner featuring legendary suspense novelist Mary Higgins Clark. The dinner is a major fundraising event for the Library Endowment Trust and was attended by 350 sponsors, patrons, and individuals. The 2012 event raised over $63,000 for the Library Endowment Trust. The Trust also honored Library Commissioner Hugh Rice at the dinner by presenting him with the Lee B. Brawner Lifetime Achievement Award for his significant support of libraries and literacy.

Village Library joined with the Oklahoma City County Health Department in presenting a Baby Sign language class that teaches communication before babies are able to use words.

The Downtown Library presented a program by Robert Post who is a brilliant physical comedian with a stunning theatrical mind. Cosponsor: Friends of the Metropolitan Library System, Oklahoma Arts Council, National Endowment for the Arts.

St. Patrick's Day was celebrated at the Bethany Library with a program presented by the Celtic Cadence Dance Company.
