  • Introductions of members and guests.

  • Assign committee member to take/post meeting minutes (George)
  • Update & Discussion on workers’ compensation injuries (Jeff):  Numbers and more information to come.
    • Went over reports since last meeting. Looked at ways to have employees be more careful with hands when grabbing items.  
  • Review and Discuss Completed Quarterly Safety Checklists: Any issues?
    • Test 911 line for libraries, some libraries reporting unable to do this. Dennis had proposed to GSLT group that we add this to quarterly site inspection checklist to have branches test this. Everyone agreed that we would do this.
  • Review Incidents/Accidents. Review these as a group. Any concerns?
    • Issue at Del City—Chairs are vinyl and guest slipped out of it. Staff have said that they have slipped out of them too. Should we look at getting some different chairs? Group commented that due to timing of budget, this would have to be considered for next year’s budget. We will continue to assess the chairs in system, and look at finding a work around until then.
  • New Safety Checklist Forms for Departments—Ready to go, will be rolled out in the next couple of weeks.
  • Fire Drills/Evacuation Plans—Ongoing project.  
  • Drug Use in the Library by Guests—Ongoing project.
  • Risk/Ergonomic Assessments—How can JD and Tucker assist us with questions/issues we are having at our locations?   
    • Talked over ergonomics and sorting carts.
    • Plan to have JD/Tucker to review bins further.
  • Glove use by employees—Follow-up from last meeting for clarification. We will continue to have employees wear gloves when handling materials until further notice.  
  • Safety Meeting Topic for October/November—What do we want to send out to the managers to discuss?
    • Fire Safety/Fire Extinguishers
    • Space Heater Safety
  • Audits/walk-through: Will be conducting walk-through here today.    
  • Next Safety Committee Meeting--Final meeting for 2024 will be on 11/20 (at Service Center).
