Meeting Location:

Attendees:
Attendees: LaVetta Dent, Anthony Herron, Stephany Dowd, Jeff Cover, John Wood, Stephen Butts, Laura Warren
Absent:
Absent: Brandon Bredy, CompSource
Items for Discussion:
- Service on Committee—Still need feedback on who wants to continue or who you would recommend for each of the 3 rotating positions. Send Jeff an email if you haven’t already.
- Update & Discussion on workers’ compensation injuries (Stephany) 1 new claim was a shoulder strain and sprain: 6 total claims ongoing: 4 Strains and sprains, 1 Exposure to blood, 1 trip and fall.
- Review and Discuss Quarterly Safety Checklists. Jeff let Steve Butts know since he is new to the group to be checking these lists as they are submitted once a quarter. Jeff told Steve that many tasks will need to be handled by MTC. Discussed possibly trimming the proposed list down a bit. Jeff will work with Brandon on this, and then meet with Managers, after the first of the year.
Laura proposed that the new checklist (since it is longer) could be broken down into 3 sections.Managers could complete 1 section per month, and have all 3 sections completed by end of the quarter.
- Review Incidents/Accidents None currently
- Mobile Drug Testing/After-Hours Drug Testing—Brandon found some options. Got some quotes, but cost is high. May not be an option right now. Too expensive, cost too high for mobile testing.
- Electrical/Mechanical Rooms—Discussed needing to have managers clean up clutter in these spaces and sign off when they do. Email sent to all Library Managers on 11/2. All managers responded by 11/11 that they took care of this. Several manager noted that the clutter in electrical rooms was from MTC—they had some materials stored there as well. Managers will want to check this on a quarterly basis. It will eventually be added to the quarterly site checklists.
- Issues with handling sharps. Can we get containers put in all locations? Anthony—any update on this? Anthony sent an email with the information on Oct 20,2021. Cost would be about $6000 per year for this service to be added. For now, group decide to have managers add this to item to their quarterly facility checklists, to determine whether it is a problem or not.
- Discuss Safety Manual-Draft Update and Action Plan for final review.
- All edits have been submitted to the safety consultant for final updates. Hope to have a final draft from consultant completed soon.
All edits will be completed soon, we will review the last draft as a committee.
- CompSource has put together safety topics for library managers to discuss a different safety topic (5 minutes) at their library’s monthly staff meetings. Jeff plans to send these forms out to the LM’s in December. Meetings will begin effective 1/1/2022. L&D will be tracking the meetings.
Start Jan 1, 2022, L&D will help by tracking.L&D provided Jeff with a sign-in sheet that managers will receive with the safety topics.LM’s will then complete and submit sign-in sheets to Jeff each month after their staff meetings.More information is coming soon on this.
- Brandon from CompSource has developed a new safety checklist form for us to use. Jeff has received edits/comments from RD’s and group. Jeff needs to discuss this further with CompSource on how to proceed with proposed revisions.
- Audits/walk-throughs at different locations—Jeff will need to coordinate with Brandon to schedule something before our next meeting. Loop in managers and Regional Directors when and where appropriate, this will start when we have it ready, Jeff will let us know more in a couple of weeks.
- Next Safety Committee Mtg. on Wed. 1/26/2022 @ 2:00pm Possible start back with this meeting as an in-person meeting. Jeff will let group know in early January 2022 what we are going to do.
