Kickoff Meeting Minutes
Meeting Date/Time: 2/28/2017 - 9:00 @ Midwest City Library
Attendees: Geraldine Adams, Tindle Arnold, Janet Brooks, Albert Brown, Natalie Currie, Michele Gorman, Kelley Hoffman, Meaghan Hunt Wilson, Melody Kellogg, Lorraine Kituri (consultant), Benjamin Mead-Harvey, Breck McGough, Mark Schuster, Paula Singer (consultant)
- Committee Charter: The committee reviewed a draft charter and, after discussion, agreed to make it our official charter. The Charter outlines the purpose, role, and duties of the committee during the project. The full Classification and Compensation Project Charter can be found in the Attachments list on the Project Page. Here is a brief summary:
- Communication: Be "point of contact" for staff questions; communicate staff concerns, questions, ideas to consultant; provide clear and regular updates via this Project Page and other means.
- Provide Guidance to Consultant: While not a decision-making body, the committee provides input and feedback from each individual perspective and as a representative for their coworkers and the whole system.
- Reviewer: Review preliminary findings and recommendations and serve as a sounding board for project findings and recommendations.
- Advocate: Support and advocate for plan implementations. By having a deep understanding of the process and the recommendations, committee members will be able to explain and justify final decisions as the best option.
- Class/Comp 101: The Singer Group provided an overview of classification and compensation studies, what defines "compensation" and what aspects of compensation we will focus on, and how perspectives are changing in regard to the structure of classification and compensation plans. In the Attachments list on the Project Page, you will find the full Classification and Compensation Study Kickoff Meeting PowerPoint.
- Focus Group: The committee spent the remainder of our time in focus groups to discuss questions about our perceptions of the current classification and compensation structure. The prompt questions were similar to the questions asked at the end of each all-staff meeting. Singer will be providing a summary of the themes that emerged from those meetings.
