Program Description: 
January 1th, 2017, is the first day to submit entries to the Southern Oaks Library Fan-Fiction Fan-Art contest. Fan art may be any medium and contain original characters, but must contain copyrighted characters as the main theme. Similar rules apply to fan fiction. For complete rules, go to www.metrolibrary.org/fan The last day to submit your work is Sunday March 19, 2017 by 6:00 p.m. The announcement party is at Southern Oaks Library, 6900 S Walker Ave. OKC 73139 on Saturday, April 1, 2017 from 1:30 to 3:30p.m. Come see the latest fan-art and hear about the latest fan-fiction at the 9th annual Southern Oaks Fan-Fiction Fan-Art Contest Party!! The announcement party is open to all ages but children younger than 12 must be accompanied by an adult. You must be present to win. This program promotes literacy, community building, social and intellectual development, and library resources. I have had positive feedback about it from teachers, parents, local business people and teens. I have been interviewed by the Oklahoma Gazette, The Oklahoman, American Libraries Magazine, and for a Graduate Students Dissertation about this program. It has been featured on a Local Fox News channel. There may be better M&M programs however.
