Describe Project and Impact:
Through placement of display screens and QR-coded interactive displays throughout the library, we will be able to promote our services to approximately 6,000 people annually.
Project Description and Expected Outcomes:
We would like to place digital displays in our study rooms and meeting rooms as well as creating QR-coded displays throughout the library. This would help distribute information to our members at more points in the building, as well as being able to take our promotions deeper through the QR-coded displays, providing greater levels of information and services to our members.
Why should we select this project?:
Both of these ideas - the targeted displays and the QR-coded displays - could be used system wide. The QR-codes could be particularly effective and engaging for our members. A particularly thought-provoking example I read about was in Contra Costa County in CA. They embed QR codes on posters advertising digital services placed in public transit that, when scanned, take folks to an interface that allows them to immediately download one of 550 digital audiobook titles. QR codes could be easily incorporated into our promotional materials - imagine a poster for a program that links people to a video of the group performing, or more information on the topic. This would operate both virtual, inside the library, and outside the library, and could have application with all four "Experiences."
Constraints, Limitations, or Dependencies:
Legal issues with linking to other people's copyrighted materials, cost of producing in-house content to support this, dependent on other department's abilities to facilitate.
