We have a temporary fix in place but several of these pipes will need to be replaced and we are working on getting estimates from plumbers for a more permanent fix.
New Del City Library – The book drop canopy was damaged in a Library vehicle incident in March 2021 Damage to the Canopy will be repaired by the Library. We are working with the contractor to raise the clearance of the canopy and improve the signage to avoid such issues in the future.
Also, still having problems with moisture in the building. Will put some moisture gauges in various areas of the building.
Edmond Library – We have been in discussion with the City of Edmond/Risk Management about having a structural evaluation to ensure there is no damage beyond what can be seen on the exterior of the building. The City of Edmond will be taking this from here and will get back with us regarding next steps.

Security Advisory Group – A Security Advisory Group met April 5, 2021 to work together on operational security items and opportunities. As the year progresses, we will be working with the group to develop and discuss training to build in some security related items for MLS staff and MLS Security personnel as well as addressing valid points of concern raised in various venues.
Security Survey– The results are back from the staff security survey. We will be sharing the survey data with all MLS staff later in April 2021.
Access Control –
- Edmond: Additional doors are being added. Ready to go live on completion.
- Jones: Troubleshooting continues on a damaged reader component. System remains on the existing system.
- Downtown: Work is underway. Wire-pull, hardware installation and system programming are ongoing. In this round of installation, the perimeter doors and some specific interior doors will be moved to the new system. The existing system will still be used for the remainder of the doors and is projected to stay in operational status for the 2021-2022 budget year (at a minimum).
- De-Commissioning of hardware – We will be working with Maintenance to decommission legacy hardware in locations that have been moved to the new system. This hardware will go back into use as spares at other locations.
Intrusion/Security Alarms –
- Downtown –
- Phase One: Perimeter doors are complete. New Arm/Disarm keypads have been installed at the Security Desk, East Employee Entrance and Basement Staff Entrance. Go live date depends on choice and programming for transmission of alarm signal to the monitoring station. We have some options with the most effective and (hopefully) least costly choices being finalized this week.
- Phase 2: No Change. Missing or damaged communication sub-components make adding the interior doors to the system unreliable until the issues are found and corrected. These devices are located in the ceiling at various points in the building and no location map has, as of yet, been located. These devices will be time intensive to locate. This work has not been negotiated with the City of OKC at this time.
