Call to order: The meeting was called to order at 1:05 p.m. Introductions were given, as this was Emily’s first meeting as the Young Adult Coordinator and there were several new staff members present.

Stacy discussed the upcoming summer reading program.

Emily handed out articles and talked about new things she learned at PLA in March. The handouts were “Keeping Up With the New” by Paula Brehm-Heeger about teens and technology, “Grab Them! Books with Real Guy Appeal” by Kathleen Baxter, “Having a Phone: IM Reference” by Aaron Schmidt, “You Are But IM” by Patrick Jones, and “Get Ready for the Gamer Generation” by Adam Carstens and John Beck.

Julie handed out a Creature Feature bibliography that contains young adult fiction, nonfiction, and DVDs.

Emily reminded everyone about the upcoming Teen Read Week event. She thanked those who have volunteered to work on the library’s new teen webpage.

Dana and Emily talked about the process of mailing out the summer reading postcards and brochures, as opposed to having the librarians drive them out to the schools.

John talked about the Argh! zine at Southern Oaks and handed out examples.

Rondia presented a Creature Feature interactive display she created for the teens at Warr Acres.

Break: 2:15-2:30

Emily set up Dance Dance Revolution! on an Xbox system for the programmers to try. She presented the program as something that could be done during Teen Read Week, since the theme is Get Active @ Your Library. Heidi Port demonstrated how the game works, and several other people tried out the game.

Kiona Wooton-Millirons presented a t-shirt surgery program that will be an option for Teen Read Week. She showed the history of t-shirts on a display board and passed around examples of modified clothing for both boys and girls. Kiona also gave a quick demo.

Conclusion: The meeting adjourned at 3:40.
